Seeing the Lord

I don't remember when I picked up a camera.  I have photo albums by the hundreds back from the days of film - yes, film!  Some of you reading this may not even know what film is, but I digress.

I've been told for years by friends and family that I'm a pretty good photographer and that I've got a good eye.  I would have to agree.  Not having any formal training I've kinda just picked up the camera, focused and shot.  This hobby has brought me a great gift - I've discovered that it has brought me closer to God.  When shooting anything with a camera you have to STOP.  You have the breathe differently and you have to focus on the subject being sure to capture the shot correctly.  Lighting, shadows, angles, horizon, edges, zoom or not to zoom.  In those moments I notice Him.  Colors begin to take on a whole new meaning.  Shapes become curiosities and wonderment.  The rising and setting of the sun or moon have a significant impact on my photography and can either enhance or make useless, a photo.  I am awe struck by His wish to provide me with such an amazing canvass to create from.  I've often been brought to tears by the realization that He created this for me to see at this moment in time and that I am lucky enough to capture it on film.  People say they see it in my work.  I hope so.

Eyes to see.  Camera to capture.  Artwork provided by the Lord.  I am very blessed.

We all need to stop and look at nature as through a camera lens. Nice writing.
